Food:

  • Worked on cleaning up my diet
  • Conscious of snacking (so bad at this during race training!!); swapped carby snacks for fruit, veggies, air-popped popcorn, and protein shakes
  • Started food journal to track daily eats

Self-Care:

  • Spent some quality time taking care of my body!
  • Dry brushed and used neti-pot regularly

Results:

  • Feel much better than before
  • Had more energy, slept less (I was clocking in 9-10 hours a night before) but was more alert anyway
  • Exercising regularly = best sleep ever
  • Feel more firm
  • Weight Loss: 0.5lbs

Now, while I only lost 0.5lbs on the scale, I actually lost 2lbs of body fat (the power of tabata!) so there is change happening. I can see and feel the difference in my body already. The key to successful and long-lasting weight loss is a balance of eating well, exercising, and taking care of your body and mind. Sure, you can lose 10lbs in 10 days with a fad diet but that weight will not stay off. When you lose weight too quickly, you lose muscle mass too. And when you gain weight back after the fad diet is over, you gain fat. So you end up with more body fat than you started with and therefore end up more unhealthy than before. Take is slow and do it right.

Challenge: pay close attention to your snacking habits this week. Do you eat because of true hunger or is it due to boredom, routine, emotions etc…While you’re at it, pay attention to what you eat, chances are you could make a healthy swap. Also, try a tabata workout this week whether it be with weights, running, elliptical, whatever!! I would love to hear how you are doing. I’m going into week 2 feeling great and I hope you are as well.
